And may the Lord bless you, and keep your garments spotless, that ye may at last be brought to sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and the holy prophets who have been ever since the world began, having your garments spotless even as their garments are spotless, in the kingdom of heaven to go no more out.
Alma 7:25
We each commits sins, mistakes, and just stupidity every day. The problem is that so often it seems like they are the same sins, mistakes and stupidity every day. We repent, we do better, we feel hopeful, then fall back into the same patterns. Is there no escape?
When I start feeling that quiet desperation I take comfort in the words of Alma: "In the kingdom of heaven to go no more out." That is the promise of the atonement of Jesus Christ. We may not know how, but there will come a day when those weaknesses, those sins, will be erased so completely from our souls that we will have left them behind with no possibility of returning to them. Then we truly shall rest, and go no more out.
